Barrington police released surveillance camera images of the man who allegedly installed a data skimming device at the TD Bank ATM machine earlier this month.

An employee at the TD Bank on County Road called police on Monday, Aug. 14 at about 11 a.m. after a skimming device was found inside the bank's ATM.

A technician had been checking the machine after a debit card was found stuck in it. While removing the card, the technician located the small metal skimming device which captures bank card information from unsuspecting customers. The skimming device could not be seen from the outside.

The surveillance images appear to show a man with a dark beard and wearing a baseball cap at the ATM on Friday, Aug. 11.

Police stated that "according to the bank manager, there had been no complaints from customers of fraudulent transactions indicating the suspects who planted the device may not yet have accessed any of the data it captured."

Anyone with information about the suspect or the case is asked to call the Barrington Police confidential tip line at 437-3933.
