PORTSMOUTH — Homecoming Weekend got off to a festive start Saturday morning with a parade that started and ended at Portsmouth High School.

Julie Bisbano, a 28-year veteran teacher at the school, was chosen to be this year’s grand marshal.

Also marching in the parade were the PHS Marching Band, cheerleaders and dance squad, the senior Homecoming Court and various floats representing all four classes at the school.

Members of the Town Council and School Committee and other dignitaries also marched in the parade, which started at the high school and proceeded down Patriots Drive, East Main Road, Freeborn Street and Turnpike Avenue before ending back at the school.

After the parade, the Portsmouth Patriots football team took to the field to face the East Providence Townies.
