Portsmouth man charged with assaulting elderly resident

PORTSMOUTH — A local man was arrested at his home Sunday, Oct. 15, and charged with domestic assault with bodily injury on a person over 60 years old.  

James F. Janus, 46, of 63 Orchard View Road, was charged at about 5:40 p.m. after police received a report of a domestic assault and disturbance.

Here are some other highlights from the Portsmouth Police reports from over the past week:

Wednesday, Oct. 11

Nichol M. Corey, 33, of 23 Stone St., Providence, was charged with disorderly conduct (offensive words at another) after she was picked up on a warrant around 11 p.m. at the North Providence Police Department.

Thursday, Oct. 12

Timothy R. Weaver, 25, of 802 13th Ave., Apt 101, Myrtle Beach, S.C., was charged with domestic willful trespassing at about 5:30 p.m. Mr. Weaver was arrested on East Main Road after police responded to a report of a suspicious person.

Saturday, Oct. 14

David A. Dini, 38, of 295 Point Road, was charged with domestic felony assault (strangulation) and domestic disorderly conduct. Police arrested him on Point Road around 9:40 p.m. after receiving a report of a domestic assault and disturbance.

Sunday, Oct. 15

Trevor M. Craig, 27, of 68 Abbott St., Providence, was charged with driving while intoxicated (first offense) after his vehicle was pulled over for a traffic violation on Route 24 North at Hummock Road around 1:15 a.m.

Monday, Oct. 16

Eric A. Soares, 49, of 54 Maize Cord Road, was charged with domestic assault after police responded to his home around 5:45 p.m. for a report of a domestic assault and disturbance.

Tuesday, Oct. 17

Susan M. Souza, 47, of 626 Birch St., Apt. 2, Fall River, was charged with driving while intoxicated (first offense) after police pulled her over for a traffic violation on Route 24 North at Cedar Island around 1 a.m. Ms. Souza was also cited for refusing a chemical test (second offense), according to police.
