PORTSMOUTH — Here are some highlights from the Portsmouth Police report from over the past week.

Tuesday, Dec. 6

A 76-year-old man who was walking his unleashed dog in the Glen Park area around 2:30 p.m. was warned by police of the town’s leash laws. The man protested the local ordinance, saying his licensed dog wasn’t bothering anyone, according to police.

A Kindle was found at the end of a drive on Union Street and handed over the police at about 3:30 p.m. The black Kindle had a black and gray magnetic cover with “Blues Clues” stickers on the front. No one had reported the device missing at the time of the report, so it was placed in a temporary evidence locker, police said.

Wednesday, Dec. 7

A 67-year-old woman was warned of the town’s leash laws after she was spotted walking two of her dogs off leash at Glen Park around 9:30 a.m., police said. The owner agreed to find an alternate area for her dogs to run off leash, according to police.

Friday, Dec. 9

Richard J. Cabral, 56, of 204 Rock St., Apt. 7, Fall River, was charged just before noon on a Superior Court full bench warrant. Mr. Cabral was a passenger in a car stopped on Park Avenue because he was not wearing a seatbelt, police said.

A car driven by Matthew R. Marion of Portsmouth struck a wooden utility pole — snapping it in half — on Bramans Lane at Meadowlark Lane just before 11 p.m. Mr. Cabral complained of pain but refused medical treatment. The car sustained heavy front-end damage and had to be towed from the scene.

Saturday, Dec. 10

Jacklyn G. Almeida, 31, of 897 Middle Road, was charged just after 1 a.m. with driving while intoxicated and refusal to submit to a chemical test. Police said they pulled over the SUV she was driving on East Main Road at Berroth Court because it drifted out of the lane of travel.

Police returned a loose Great Dane found on Ethel Drive to its owner shortly after 1 p.m. The owner arrived on the scene shortly after police placed the dog, which had a collar but no tags, into the back of a police vehicle. The owner said the elderly dog had been let outside in the backyard but had wandered off. Police gave the owner a warning about allowing her dog to run loose.
