PTSO to spread holly-day cheer this Saturday

Johnston Sun Rise ·

Santa Claus is coming to town, but jolly old Saint Nick won’t be the only headliner at Saturday’s Johnston High School Parent Teacher Student Organization’s 5th annual Holly Fair on Saturday, November 19, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the school cafeteria.

The fair benefits various programs the PTSO supports throughout the academic year and offers opportunity for early Christmas shopping as well as looking for those unique items and decorations.

“We’ll have a variety of vendors,” said Melissa Patrone, who is co-chairing the event with Lori Agnew. “We’ll have a chocolate boutique, cake pops and even Frisky Fries.”

Frisky Fries, a Johnston-based business that recently opened its shop off Hartford Avenue, will have one of its food trucks near the entrance to the school for people who like French fries.

“We’re hoping this will be the biggest and best Holly Fair ever,” Patrone said. “In keeping with tradition, we’ll have a very special visit from our favorite friend from the North Pole, and rumor has it that Santa Claus will be bringing some of his friends to the fair this year.”

Agnew added, “Lots of people told us last year that this is a great place to start holiday shopping, especially if you’re trying to find the perfect gift for a teacher, co-worker, mailman of just something special for yourself.”

There is space for a few more vendors. Those wishing to sell items must supply their own tables, chairs and signage and booth equipment and make a $30 donation to the PTSO. Set-up time will begin at 7:30 a.m. on Nov. 19. Patrone said the PTSO is also asking vendors to donate one item upon arrival and that will be used at the non-profit’s always-popular raffle table.

The cafeteria entrance is in the rear of the school. Call Patrone at 575-1097 or Agnew at 965-3362 with questions or to request a vendor application.
