RI Realtors giving back with matching grant program

RI Realtors has been looking to give back to the community during the COVID-19 crisis, and recently kicked off a new matching grant program to help locals in need during these tough times.

The organization has been receiving donations that will go directly toward the Rhode Island Foundation and Family Service of RI, and RI Realtors will match all donations up to $10,000.

“COVID-19 has impacted nearly every Rhode Islander in some way. In an effort to help those who need it most, RI Association of Realtors and State-Wide MLS have pledged to give $10,000 towards a Matching Grant to support the Rhode Island Foundation and Family Service of RI in their charitable initiatives related to COVID-19. That means that every donation given up to $10,000 will be matched dollar for dollar,” the Realtor Foundation said in a statement.

Edward Stachurski, president of the Realtor Foundation of Rhode Island, is excited to help local communities in need during this time and feels that that is what realtors are for.

“Our foundation is looking to give back to the community, especially to those affected by the COVID-19 crisis. We have it set up so we will be giving back though the Rhode Island Foundation and Family Services because those organizations are more familiar with where the needs are. It’s a great thing, realtors are community-oriented people, so this is a great opportunity to give back to the community,” Stachurski said.

RI Realtors have raised roughly $5,000 to this point and is aiming to accomplish its goal of $10,000. The deadline to donate is May 31.

“Generally, we have looked for community organizations that are not highly-funded, but yet, deliver vital community services,” Stachurski said. “We look for that, but in this particular case, and with the seriousness of the COVID-19 crisis, we have made an extra effort to give back to the community and help those that need it most.”
