IF THEY WERE PRESIDENT: Rep. Camille Vella Wilkinson visited the second grade class of Hoxsie teacher Stacy Kennefick Friday as part of reading week across the state. Vella Wilkinson read the book “If I Were President.” But the representative did much more than read. She quizzed the students on a variety of subjects, surprised to find their breadth of knowledge when it came to identifying past presidents as well as Rhode Island elected officials, including Gov. Gina Raimondo. Vella Wilkinson reads to the class as an attentive group of students, Jessel Coutu, Joshua Martini and Jahliyah Brown, make ovals in response to her question, “What is the shape of the oval office?” Looking on is Principal Gary McCoombs.
