Barrington police issued a warning to the Talbots store in the Barrington Shopping Center on Tuesday, Feb. 28, for violating the plastic bag ban.
A resident stopped into the station and showed officers one of the bags from Talbots — it appeared that the plastic bag was thick enough to be re-used, but its handles were heat-sealed and not sewn in.
An officer alerted store employees to the situation; the store will switch to paper bags that have rope handles. Police said the store manager was very cooperative.
