An employee at the TD Bank on County Road in Barrington called police at about 11 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 14, after a skimming device was found inside the bank's ATM.

A technician had been checking the machine after a debit card was found stuck in the machine.

While removing the card, the technician located the small metal skimming device which captures bank card information from unsuspecting customers.

The skimming device could not be seen from the outside. It was not clear how long the device had been inside the machine.

Barrington Police Chief John LaCross recommended that officials from all area banks check their ATMs for similar devices.
