Barrington girls sell homemade goods, buy wings for hospitalized children

Summer Lukens, and Elizabeth and Anna Bahena stood behind the homemade stand and pointed to the different items they were selling. There were some pencils, a few jars filled with glitter, some small decorated pumpkins and even some scented rocks.

The young Barrington girls — they are also neighbors — have been running the Summer's Wings foundation stand for months. They sell the crafts to passersby and neighbors and then use the money to purchase costume wings that they deliver to local children's hospitals.

It's a simple gesture by the girls, but it has been warmly received by people at the hospitals, and it has made all the girls' parents quite proud.

"Summer is such a kind-hearted girl, and I'm humbled that my Elizabeth and Anna are able to share in this initiative with her," said Anna and Elizabeth's mother, Samantha Bahena.
