AT THE MOHR LIBRARY

On Aug. 10, the Mohr Library will present a PCFF Teen Filmmaking Workshop at 6 p.m. Film is a medium that most teens have a lot of experience with, but mostly in being a passive viewer. The PCFF will introduce teens to film and media literacy language and concepts before and after showcasing an independent short film, and end with a filmmaking activity based on the "Build A Better World" theme, which will eventually link with teens in the other PCFF Summer Reading Program sessions. Teens will transform from passive to active viewers and media makers before your eyes! Our presentation will be part audience participation (pre- and post-screening discussion), part demonstration (film screening/active viewing), and part hands-on workshop (media-making of collaborative film project). Twenty spaces available so registration required; contact Emilie to register Mohr.teen.librarian@gmail.com.

Page to Stage for Teens will be presented every Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. Page to Stage is a workshop for teens that will be run by Kevin Broccoli, their fiction specialist and local theatre artist. There is no cost for participating, everything will be supplied No commitment week to week. Registration is encouraged, but drop-ins welcome. Workshop content will largely depend on the interest of the teens in attendance. It will likely be a little different each week. They will be learning to write their own scripts, read them, and act them out. Teens can take on different roles, so if they only want to write or if they only want to act, they can. If they are interested there may be script analysis, or reading classic plays. This is an open, flexible program for the teens to learn, experiment, and have fun.

Thursday, Aug. 10 will be a special program at 6 p.m. where the Providence Children's Film Festival will come to host a teen film program. They will learn about different film equipment & techniques, then they will create their own film. There are 25 spaces available and registration required.
