Tranquil Touch is winner of American Small Business Championship SCORE award

Warwick Beacon ·

Tranquil Touch Aesthetics Boutique of East Greenwich

has been chosen as a winner of The 2017 American Small Business Championship hosted by SCORE, the nation’s largest network of volunteer, expert business mentors, and generously supported by Sam’s Club, a leading U.S. membership club serving small businesses since 1983. The Championship awarded this title to 102 entrepreneurs for their dedication to the success of their small businesses. The American Small Business Champions will each receive a $1,000 Sam's Club gift card, an all-expense-paid trip to a training and networking event in Dallas Texas, SCORE mentoring and publicity throughout the year.

Tranquil Touch earned the title of American Small Business Champion by submitting an online application describing the most unique aspect of their small business that has contributed to their success, their positive impact on the community, and plans to use the prizes to grow their business. Nominations which garnered at least 100 votes were then presented to a judging panel of small business experts that determined 102 winners including Tranquil Touch. From providing esthetic services in a spare room of her house in 2013 to the back room of a Coventry service provider in 2014, Tranquil Touch was born on King Street in East Greenwich in October of 2015. With two rooms available for services, a full-time massage service provider was added in March of 2016. Continued growth forced a move to the current location, 901 Main Street in East Greenwich, in November of 2016. Tranquil Touch currently has two full-time service providers, two on-call massage therapists and a handful of service providers that come periodically to perform other in-demand services. Tranquil Touch is a woman-owned business and the staff is currently all female, not by choice but by coincidence.

Part of what makes Tranquil Touch unique and certainly was instrumental in being selected for the 2017 American Small Business Championship was the “Give to Live” program that the Boutique established in 2016. Through “Give to Live”, Tranquil Touch provides free services once each month to a cancer or debilitating illness/disease survivor or their caregivers with designs to increase the program to providing free service each Wednesday. In addition, the Boutique collects personal care products for the local charity AmenityAid and accepts donations for the House of Hope in Warwick.

“We are so grateful to receive this recognition. There have been many obstacles we have had to overcome as a small business. This generous award from SCORE will help the Boutique to provide our clients the experiences they deserve. Thank you to our wonderful clients and the community for supporting us and helping us succeed. This would not have been possible without you,” said Colleen Collins, owner of Tranquil Touch.

Tranquil Touch is also eligible to win one of three additional $25,000 grand prizes by being named Grand Champion. A judging panel of small business experts will select three Grand Champions from the group of Small Business Champions this summer. Selection is based on how effectively Champions utilize the Sam’s Club gift card and the SCORE regional training events to grow business revenue, as well as how effectively the winners promoted the championship in the media and social media.
