UPDATE: Bristol's Hope Street back open after hours-long closure

Wires, possibly poles were down near Washington Street

Hope Street in Bristol has reopened as of around 7:15 a.m. and power to the area has been restored.

The road had been closed to all vehicles from Poppasquash Road to Washington Street for hours due to power line problems near Washington Street by the harbor.

At 5:25 a.m., a police officer said that electrical crews were working on several downed or damaged poles and had been for awhile. He said that he had just been told that repairs might take another couple hours to complete.

"Not a good night to lose power," he said as a frigid northwest wind whipped in off the harbor.

Houses all appeared dark in the vicinity of the Poppasquash entrance area and west of Hope Street in the Washington Street area.
