Kyle Geisel, 26, was less than half a mile from home when he was killed after losing control of his 2013 Ford sedan, striking a curb sand then a tree in front of 616 Child St. last Tuesday, Nov. 21.

The Kinnicutt Avenue resident was the son of Joseph Geisel of Warren and Tammy L. Chalk of Pawtucket. A welder, he had lived in Warren for eight years and previously lived in Attleboro, where he was born.

Police and rescue crews were called Child Street, just west of the Long Lane intersection, at about 10:20 p.m. after receiving multiple 911 calls. Rescue workers performed CPR and offered other medical care at the scene, but Mr. Geisel was pronounced deceased after being transported to Rhode Island Hospital.

Warren Police Lt. Roy Borges said Mr. Geisel was traveling west on Route 103 when the accident occurred. He said speed appears to have been a factor in the crash and though police are waiting for autopsy results from the state Medical Examiner's Office, Lt. Borges said Monday morning that there was no additional information to report on the investigation.

According to an obituary in the Attleboro Sun-Times, Mr. Geisel was a talented welder who enjoyed golf, camping, competing in “Tough Mudder” races in New Hampshire, and computers and technology. He worked with his father, two uncles and a brother-in-law at Building Envelope Systems in Plainville, Ma.

Tuesday night’s crash was the first traffic fatality in Warren in several years. Approximately two years ago a motorcyclist died of medical complications due to a minor accident.
