Two East Providence and Riverside women face charges after police say they attempted to steal items from a car parked on Cutler Street last Wednesday, August 25.

Police were called to Cutler just before 9:30 p.m. after a woman allegedly saw two suspects rummaging through her boyfriend’s car. She told her boyfriend, who confronted them. Deputy Warren Police Chief Joseph Loiselle said that after being confronted the two women made it to their car and attempted to get away, but the man hopped in his car and parked it across Cutler Street, blocking them in.

Deputy Chief Loiselle said the women told officers who arrived a short time later that they hadn’t done anything wrong, and were just lost.

“Eventually they acknowledged it,” and police also recovered evidence in their car that supported the victims’ claims, he said.

Brianna L. Gilbert, 19, of Riverside, was charged with conspiracy and Breanna Rodrigues, 18, of East Providence was charged with misdemeanor larceny under $1,500.
