Warren police identify victim in fatal accident

Warren police have identified the man killed in a single car accident on Child Street Tuesday evening.

Kyle Geisel, 26, of Kinnicutt Avenue, died after he lost control of his 2013 Ford sedan and struck a tree in front of 616 Child St. at about 10:20 p.m. Rescue workers performed CPR and offered other medical care at the scene, but Mr. Geisel was pronounced dead after being transported to Rhode Island Hospital.

Warren Police Lt. Roy Borges said speed appears to have been a factor in the crash, which left a large oak deeply scarred. Mr. Geisel was headed west into Warren when the accident occurred, he said.

Police are waiting to hear from Rhode Island Hospital and the state Medical Examiners’ office to determine if there were any other factors that contributed to the accident.

Tuesday night’s crash was the first traffic fatality in Warren in some time. Approximately two years ago a motorcyclist died of medical complications due to a minor accident.
