Warren police logs: Man arrested after fleeing accident on foot

Monday, Nov. 14

A bicyclist was struck by a car on Haile Street just after 10 a.m.

Police got a call about a loose bull walking around the St. Thomas the Apostle Church on Metacom Avenue. The animal control officer was able to secure the animal back on private property within a half hour or so. No word on whether a red cape was involved.

Joshua J. Linton, 27, was cited for driving after the denial, suspension or revocation not his license (third or subsequent offense) after a traffic accident on Metacom Avenue. Mr. Linton has faced similar traffic charges in Warwick, East Providence and Barrington, according to the state’s criminal information database.

Tuesday, Nov. 15

Late Monday evening, a Child Street man reported being assaulted by his girlfriend/roommate. Two hours later, Laura A. Phillips, 48, of 325 Child St., was charged with domestic simple assault/battery and domestic disorderly conduct.

A West Street man called police after he said his landlord entered his apartment without notice. The landlord told police he entered to tend to an audible fire alarm.

Police were called to Frances Street for an unruly boy.

A dog bite was reported on Schoolhouse Road.

A Stuart Street man complained that his ex-girlfriend refused to leave after retrieving her belongings.

Donald C. Smith Jr., 29, of Warwick, was arrested on a warrant issued by Sixth Division District Court, after police pulled him over on Market Street and Joe’s Road.

Wednesday, Nov. 16

Two Kickemuit Village residents got into an argument and police were called out.

Someone on Kickemuit Road complained about loud music just before 5:30 p.m.

Police were asked to check on the well-being of a man seen stumbling in and out of traffic on Child Street.

An Ellis Avenue resident reported receiving harassing text messages.

A caller from Union Street complained that a neighbor’s friends were throwing glass and beer bottles into the road.

Jack Kane, 23, of Seekonk, was charged with driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, driving with a suspended license refusal to submit to a chemical test and leaving the scene of an accident, after he struck a telephone pole on Franklin Street just before 11 p.m. Police said he and another man fled the accident on foot; police later caught up with Mr. Kane on Vernon Street.

Thursday, Nov. 17

A Water Street man complained that his neighbor was blasting music.

An erratic motorcyclist was reported on Schoolhouse Road.

Friday, Nov. 18

Anthony M. Alves, 27, of West Palm Beach, Fla., was charged with 19 counts of forgery or passing counterfeit bills or notes. Police got a call from the treasurer of a local charitable organization, who told them that while looking through records he discovered that between Oct. 15 and Dec. 7, 2015, Mr. Alves had written out checks to himself and forged a family member’s name on them. The total money cashed in those checks was under $5,000.

The fire chief asked that an open burn be extinguished due to complaints of excessive smoke in the area.

A woman reported two loose dogs on Touisset Road.

Police were called to Child Street for a dispute between a landlord and tenant.

A caller reported a possible drunk driver on Metacom Avenue.

A caller from Water Street reported receiving a text message containing “explicit material.”

Saturday, Nov. 19

Someone keyed a car parked on Locust Terrace.

Police received multiple calls about loose cows on Libby Lane.

Sunday, Nov. 20

Police were called to Water Street by a woman who said a man was breaking into her apartment.

Monday, Nov. 21

The street sign for Bee Jay Court wound up missing Monday.
