Warren's Grace Barker changes its name

The Grace Barker Nursing Center has changed its name, and is now known as Grace Barker Health.

The skilled nursing, short-term rehabilitation, assisted living and adult day provider was established in 1966 on Barker Avenue. It was founded by current owner Mary Beth Lescault’s mother; she now runs it with husband Mark. She said at a reception last week that the new name better reflects the full spectrum of medical care that the company provides.

“We are not just a nursing home, just an assisted living, just an adult day and just a short-term rehab provider,” she said. “We are a provider of all of those services on one campus. Our new name explains the continuum of services; as our patients’ needs change, we can change with them.

In addition to the main name, the Grace Barker Nursing Center is being re-named “The Cove at Grace Barker.” The Willows, the assisted living and adult day facility, will continue to be known as The Willows at Grace Barker.

Town officials helped christen the name change last week. Those in attendance included Warren Town Council vice president Keri Cronin, Deputy Warren Police Chief Joseph Loiselle, Warren Fire Chief Al Galinelli, Warren Senior Center Director Elizabeth Hoague, and East Bay Chamber of Commerce Committee Chairs Danielle DeLuca Thompson and Mark DeVine. Ms. Cronin presented a proclamation and Ms. DeLuca Thompson spoke briefly to acknowledge the name change and to thank The Lescaults for their commitment to serving Warren’s residents and families for more than 50 years.

The new name and logo will be rolled out over the next several months on the campus buildings, vans, website, and collateral.
