Warwick store is 20th for Duluth Trading

Warwick Beacon ·

Employees at Duluth Trading’s Warwick location convened as a “family” for the first time last week. Mayor Scott Avedisian joined the staff to cut a ribbon and officially open the store for business Thursday morning.

“Opening our 20th retail store in Warwick is a milestone for Duluth and it is also the fourth location in the eastern U.S to serve our largest concentration of customers,” said Duluth CEO Stephanie Pugliese in a statement. “We are delighted to bring our unique experience and solution-based apparel to southern New England, and we look forward to welcoming our loyal customers in the region and the many visitors who come to the Ocean State for its beautiful ocean coastlines, lighthouses and parks.”

The casual and work wear brand’s new store at 1000 Bald Hill Road brought jobs for 40 people. Store manager Jonathan Day said the location has been in the works for about two years and that construction began around four months ago. The team was hired in February, and Day said he thinks he’s the only one working there who isn’t a native Rhode Islander (he hails from Tennessee). It’s been a fun, smooth set-up, he said, and the company is happy to be breaking ground in the state.

“We’re really excited to be in the community. I can’t state that enough,” Day said. “Rhode Island has been terrific and people are really passionate about the state, about what’s around here. I’m learning every day different things about the state, and everyone’s been very welcoming.”

Day added that lots of Rhode Islanders order online or through catalogs, so it made sense to have a location here, plus Warwick’s central location and the “phenomenal” traffic on Bald Hill Road was advantageous to the company from a business standpoint.

The team at Duluth is excited to treat customers like “next door neighbors” and its associates like “family.” To celebrate its grand opening, the store is offering $10 off purchases of $50 or more. Visitors can purchase clothes for casual wear or for work; their website currently features “dry on the fly” gear that keeps its wearer dry in wet conditions, flannel shirts, “longtail” t-shirts that offer extra length, and “Fire Hose” pants that promise durability.

Duluth Trading is open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sundays. For more information visit duluthtrading.com or call the store at 250-5777.
