Westbay Community Action was recently recognized with an Exemplary Worksite Health Award from Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island (BCBSRI) and the Greater Providence Chamber of Commerce for effective programs encouraging employee health and well-being in a meaningful way.

“Healthy employees are happy employees. The staff is our agencies most valuable asset. We take pride in our commitment to investing in their wellbeing and job satisfaction,” says Cindy Singleton an Associate Director at Westbay. “Our wellness program has built a sense of camaraderie with a focus on improving healthy habits.”

Westbay Community Action was one of more than 75 Rhode Island businesses honored by BCBSRI and the Chamber with a Worksite Health Award at a breakfast attended by state business leaders. The event celebrated local businesses that have demonstrated a commitment to improving Rhode Islanders overall health through innovative wellness programs, as companies and individuals.

“The Employee Engagement Team has sponsored activities to manage stress, eat healthy, and be physically active. Our most successful initiative has been a seasonal vegetable delivery service provided by the Westbay Barton Farm. Our Senior Nutrition Team stocks the boxes with easy vegetable recipes to star on family plates at mealtimes,” said Westbay executive director Paul Salera.
