Gas prices in Rhode Island rose by 2 cents this week, averaging $2.28 a gallon across the state, according to AAA Northeast.
The $2.28 price is 4 cents below the national average of $2.32 for regular unleaded. A year ago at this time, the average price in Rhode Island was 8 cents lower at $2.20.
The range in prices in the latest AAA survey for unleaded regular is 30 cents, from a low of $2.13 to a high of $2.43, the motor club announced. Mid-grade gas averaged $2.56 ($2.33-$2.79); premium averaged $2.76 ($2.53-$2.89); diesel averaged $2.48 ($2.43-$2.55).
