The City Council gave unanimous first passage Monday night to a zone change enabling Centerville Builders of Warwick to proceed with plans for ten duplex-style single story condos on 3.3 acres at 686 Sandy Lane. Each of the 20 2-bedroom units with basements will have a garage. Ward 6 Councilwoman Donna Travis and Ward 3 Councilman Tim Howe were highly complementary of developer Robert Lameroux, his responsiveness to the neighbors and the quality of his work. While not specifically designed for empty nesters, Lameroux thought the units would appeal to older people and snowbirds. His intent is to sell them. However, if the hot housing market cools, he said he would rent them. In addition to requiring second passage by the council the project will require Planning Board preliminary and final approvals.
