Brightening the day

The Cranston Herald ·

The Esperanza-Hope team had a chance to make Easter a little brighter for children in the community through the giving of Easter baskets. The nonprofit organization distributed 150 Easter baskets to children in Cranston.

The pandemic has sidelined yet another festivity-filled holiday, so Esperanza-Hope decided to bring the holiday to doorsteps of the children in Cranston. The team spent most of the weekend driving around, delivering Easter decorated baskets full of toys, candy and other little trinkets. The Easter bunny himself made an appearance, a welcoming sight for children who have been stuck inside for over a year now. As things begin to go back to “normal,” Esperanza-Hope plans to go back to hosting events such as its annual Easter egg hunt, but for now, the focus is to give smiles and reassurance to the children in the community.

Esperanza-Hope’s mission is to bring hope and embolden a positive vision of the future for the homeless and low-income families in the community in Rhode Island, and for children in the poorest communities of the Dominican Republic. The objective is to encourage a more positive outlook for children by providing the tools necessary for success.
