Bristol Police: Overturned boat, 'suspicious' delivery driver, public urination

The Bristol Police Department responded to the following calls between Nov. 14 and Nov. 20

Monday, Nov. 14

A car was reportedly vandalized on San Jose Drive. a report was filed at 7:40 a.m.

A resident on Bradford Street called 911 just after noon and could be heard saying “Stop” repeatedly. Police investigated, interviewing the caller and her fiancee. No arrest was reported.

Police responded to reports of suspicious activity on Wood Street at 5:30 p.m., on Griswold Avenue just after 8 p.m., and aboard a RIPTA bus just before 10:30 p.m. There was no police action required.

Tuesday, Nov. 15

Police responded to reports of live wires down at a diner on Gooding Avenue just before 7 a.m. A transformer reportedly blew. National Grid was responding.

A black car drove the wrong way on one-way Sherry Avenue at 11 a.m., hitting a white car before taking off. Police were unable to locate the car.

A resident on Michael Drive called police at 2 p.m. because a car was parked on the street. The driver was a visiting nurse taking care of the caller’s neighbor.

Two kids on skateboards were riding in the middle of Hope Street at Washington Street just after 9 a.m. Police advised them to get off the road.

A smell of natural gas was detected at Mt. Hope High School around 8:30 p.m. National Grid responded, but the odor appeared to be coming from a faulty generator.

Wednesday, Nov. 16

A resident at Hope Street and Fales Road called to report an alarm going off in the area at 3:30 p.m. The alarm turned out to be a smoke detector a neighbor had thrown in the trash.

Police were called to Narrows Road and Paine Avenue at 10:30 a.m. for reports of a man cutting trees in the woods. He was actually removing dead limbs, which the property owner gave him permission to do.

A car was reportedly stolen from Franklin Street around 11:30 a.m. Police are investigating.

A resident on Alma Avenue reported an intoxicated woman was in the backyard. The woman was brought to the hospital.

An abandoned dog was found wandering near the CVS on Metacom Avenue just before 9 p.m. The owner later called to report the dog stolen. Police informed the owner the dog could be found at the Bristol animal shelter.

Thursday, Nov. 17

A resident on Brookwood Drive called police just after 9 a.m. because a neighbor reportedly put trash cans in front of his property. 

A caller from Jameson Drive reported “several cell phones” of his are being held by someone who will not return them. Police are investigating.

Friday, Nov. 18

A caller reported finding “medical waste” at Woodlawn and Dewolf avenues at 1 p.m.

A woman on Thompson Avenue called police to report “an unwanted woman” on her property. The unwanted woman turned out to be the property manager.

Police responded to noise complaints on Roosevelt Drive, and twice on Baker Street. None were after 11 p.m.

A man on Hopeworth Avenue called police for “parties urinating on his lawn” just before midnight.

Saturday, Nov. 19

Police and fire were called to Third Street just before 1 a.m. for reports of a loud party and an open burn. The fire was extinguished.

Several residents called to report a water leak at Hope Street and Vantage Point Drive around 8 a.m. The Bristol County Water Authority responded.

A resident on Central Street reported seeing a man wearing black pants and a white hooded sweatshirt jumping over fences and trespassing on multiple properties at 11:30 a.m. The man was a UPS driver making deliveries.

Sunday, Nov. 20

Police assisted with an overturned boat and a man in the water around 1 p.m. The Bristol Harbormaster’s office responded.

A possibly rabid raccoon was spotted on Catherine Street at 3:30 p.m. DEM responded.
