'Fiddler' plays this week at West

The Cranston Herald ·

More than 70 cast and crew members will come together this weekend to present the timeless musical classic, “Fiddler on the Roof” at Cranston High School West.

Director Nancy Vitulli has been working with her cast and crew since the start of the school year to bring audiences a show like no other. Featuring a host of live musicians, stunning scenery, lighting and set design, and authentic costuming, “Fiddler on the Roof” will bring back in time to pre-revolutionary Russia as Tevye, a traditional family man played by senior Will Walmsley and his wife Golde, played by senior Megan Mahoney, are trying to raise their family of five daughters (played by Brenna Whittaker, Jessica Sullivan, Destinee DelBonis, Isabella Lepre, and Zoe Sadwin) in the village of Anatevka during ever-changing times. Mikeicha Malloy plays Yente the infamous Jewish matchmaker asked to match Tevye’s oldest daughter with a husband. The audience will enjoy familiar songs such as “Matchmaker, Matchmaker,” “Tradition,” and so many more, under the direction of musical director Rena Anthony.

Performances are on Friday, December 7 and Saturday, December 8 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, December 9 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $12 and can be purchased online at CHSW-theater.weebly.com, in school during lunches starting on Monday, December 3, or at the door, if available. All tickets are general seating and purchasing ahead is encouraged.
