In 1969 Pat Pezzelli opened Golden Crest Nursing Centre in North Providence, establishing the state's first skilled nursing facility. This family-owned and operated company is now being administrated by Pat's son, Paul Pezzelli, who continues the tradition of offering top quality nursing care in a beautiful building. “Our mission has always been to serve the dignity of the individual,” Paul says. Golden Crest handles short-term post-operative care to long-term care in the following areas: comprehensive skilled nursing; physical, occupational and speech therapy; complex post-surgical medical services; Alzheimer's and memory care; and hospice. The 152 bed center is accredited by the Joint Commission, which is considered the gold standard for healthcare facilities.
Golden Crest was ahead of its time when it opened 45 years ago, and they still are striving to be leaders in the field today. “To keep pace we are constantly innovating and reinventing how we do things,” Paul explains. “We recently opened a brand new rehab studio and renovated the rooms on our rehab wing. New technologies and nursing techniques emerge every day – we monitor these constantly to help us maintain the best quality of care possible.”
Everyone who works here is committed to understanding each patient's needs. “We're a family business with close ties to our residents, families, staff and community,” Paul says. “We also believe in giving back to the community.” Part of their ability to deliver high level personal service is their belief in letting a simple philosophy guide them in an industry that grows more complex year-after-year. “We keep doing what we do best, and that is to be ready at all times to take care of people when they need us most,” Paul says. “That's why we're here.”
