RHODE ISLAND HISTORY EXPLORED: David Procaccini, president of the Nathanael Greene Homestead, and Trish Woodward-Harmon, President of the Rhode Island Genealogical Society and Caretaker of the Nathanael Greene Homestead, recently presented “Nathanael Greene: a Rhode Island soldier; his fame, history, genealogy and homeland” at the Mohr Library. Guest speakers of the Mohr Library’s Genealogy Group, their presentation explored Nathanael (sometimes spelled “Nathaniel”) Greene’s life as one of nine children born into a Quaker family, his service as a Revolutionary War general, and his campaigns that helped end the British occupation of the South. The Nathanael Greene Homestead is located at 50 Taft Street in Coventry, and is open Monday, Friday and Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sunday’s 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Visit www.nathanaelgreenehomestead.org for details.
